Release Notes - October 2021

The Talend Academy team was busy in Q3-2021 updating learning plans, creating new videos, and developing new use cases and solution templates. There’s a lot of new content available to help you be successful with Talend products!

New and updated learning plans

Talend ESB Administration

The learning plan has been upgraded to a 7.3 environment, modularized, and the Deploying services module has been updated to push a local project to Git instead of SVN.

Talend DI Advanced

The learning plan has been upgraded to a 7.3 environment.

Mapping SWIFT Structures with Talend Data Mapper

This learning plan is an extension of the Talend Data Mapper Essentials learning plan, showing you how to integrate your mappings with SWIFT databases.

Mapping EDI Structures with Talend Data Mapper

This learning plan is an extension of the Talend Data Mapper Essentials learning plan, showing you how to perform mapping on data structures following the EDI format.

Talend Cloud Data Preparation

This learning plan has been enriched with a new module: Working with semantic types. The new module shows how to create, update, and import semantic types, covering the three categories of available semantic types: dictionary-based, regular–expression, and compound semantic.

Talend Cloud Data Stewardship

This learning plan has been enriched with a new module: Creating data quality rules. The new module shows how to create basic and advanced data quality rules, explains the data shaping language, applies a rule to a data model defined in Talend Cloud Data Stewardship, and explores the results in a campaign.

Talend Data Integration Certification Preparation

This preparation course introduces the topics you should invest in when preparing for the certification exam. In the first module, you learn how Talend Studio can help you implement data integration projects. In the second, you learn how to use Talend Cloud Pipeline Designer, and in the third, you learn how to use Stitch to answer data integration needs.

Modules

Using REST connections in Pipeline Designer

This module shows you how to process data in a pipeline from a REST service. It details how to create a REST connector to call a REST API and create REST-based datasets, quickly accessing data in JSON format.

Advanced use cases

Talend Management Console: Ingesting execution logs into Azure Log Analytics

This use case introduces you to the execution logs management features available using Talend Management Console API. It shows how you can gather execution logs from the tasks you configured and executed in Talend Management Console and how to ingest them into different monitoring tools such as Azure Log Analytics.

Solution templates

Calling Talend Management Console API from a Telegram Bot

Telegram is a popular instant messaging tool for multiple desktop and mobile platforms. Talend allows you to interact with Telegram using the HTTP REST service and by creating a microservice that can act as a webhook for a Telegram bot. This solution template shows you how to create a Telegram bot and how to implement a Talend data service Job as a tool that can interpret bot commands and interact with the Talend Management Console API. For example, you can use a bot to call some exposed functions and send the information directly to your mobile phone.

Talend Integration with Databricks Spark 3.0 in Azure

Talend provides a variety of integration components to develop Big Data Batch workloads. For example, in Talend Studio, you can generate Spark code and execute it in a Big Data Cluster. This solution template demonstrates the capabilities of integrating Talend with Databricks (Spark 3.0) in Microsoft Azure.

ELT Processing using Databricks Delta Lake

Talend offers a wide range of ELT components to help companies utilize the true compute capabilities that a target database has to offer. This solution template shows how to implement ELT methodology on Databricks Delta Lake using Talend components, such as tELTInput, tELTOutput, and tELTMap to extract mock datasets from a Databricks Delta Lake, combine them, and load the data into another table.

Amazon Rekognition Text Detection Integration using Talend Component Kit

This solution template shows you how to create a custom component with AWS Rekognition that detects text in images using Talend Component Kit, a framework Talend offers for creating components in Talend Studio.
