Release Notes - July 2021
The Talend Academy team was busy in Q2-2021 updating learning plans, creating new videos, and developing new use cases and solution templates. There’s a lot of new content available to help you be successful with Talend products!
New and updated learning plans
The learning plan has been upgraded to a 7.3 virtual environment.
Talend Data Integration Advanced
The learning plan has been upgraded to a 7.3 virtual environment.
The learning plan has been upgraded to a 7.3 environment, modularized, and enriched with a new module, Debugging Routes, that demonstrates how to debug Routes in Talend Studio.
This learning plan has been modularized, upgraded to a 7.3 virtual environment, and optimized to cover only the fundamentals needed to use this powerful product.
Mapping COBOL structures with Talend Data Mapper
This learning plan is an extension of the Talend Data Mapper Essentials learning plan. It covers four different use cases surrounding the mapping of COBOL data structures.
Modules
Resolution campaigns for data analysts
This module has been updated to demonstrate how to create tasks in Talend Cloud Data Stewardship within a pipeline.
This module is an extension of the Talend Data Mapper Essentials learning plan. It shows you how to leverage the maps you create in a Talend Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Route.
New Talend Installation Foundations video
This series of videos for support engineers demonstrates the installation and configuration requirements to support Talend software and its integration with Talend Cloud. Topics include:
-
Downloading and installing Talend Runtime software on a Linux server, to allow deployment of services and Routes in an OSGi bundle using Talend Cloud
-
Installing Talend Remote Engine and accessing configuration files and execution logs
-
A three-video series covering preparation, installing, and administering Talend Studio
Advanced use cases
Organize tasks and plans in Talend Management Console
This use case demonstrates how to configure tasks and plans in Talend Management Console following best practices. It shows you how to document the plan properly, so operators know how to rerun it in case of execution failure.
Solution templates
Amazon Comprehend Language Detection Integration using Talend Component Kit
This solution template shows you how to create an Amazon Comprehend Language Detection component using Talend Component Kit, a framework Talend offers for creating components that can be used in Talend Studio. It also describes how to build and deploy the component to Studio and how to design and develop a Job that uses the new component.
Direct Lift and Shift in AWS S3
Talend offers a wide range of Amazon Web Services (AWS) components that enable you to access buckets and objects in the Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3). This solution template demonstrates a practical use case for integrating with S3 and MySQL by leveraging standard Talend DI components. It implements a solution that uses the code reusability and refactoring feature of a Joblet to copy, rename, and delete files in S3.
EDI File Processing using Data Mapper
This solution template shows you how to use the new Talend Data Mapper features to import UN/EDIFACT specifications to create data mapper structures. Then, you’ll learn how to process an EDI file using Talend components and load the data into a MySQL database for analysis and reporting.
Implementing Google Drive Operations
This solution template shows you how to implement various Google Drive operations using Talend components, such as tGoogleDriveConnection, tGoogleDrivePut, and tGoogleDriveGet.
Integrating Talend Big Data Streaming Jobs with MongoDB
This solution template shows you how to integrate Talend capabilities with MongoDB for big data streaming Jobs by examining a real use case with COVID-19 data, publicly available on the COVID Tracking Project web site. The solution builds a data integration Job that produces Kafka messages during runtime and a consumer Job that reads the message and loads data to MongoDB.
Microsoft Dynamics to Azure Synapse Incremental Lift and Shift
Migrating data from Microsoft Dynamics to an Azure Synapse using the incremental lift and shift method involves extracting data from Microsoft Dynamics based on date-based conditions. You can use the flow for both one-off and delta data migration processes.
This solution template shows how you can use Talend Jobs to perform change data capture (CDC) between Salesforce and another application, such as a Snowflake database, by monitoring Salesforce platform events in real time. It includes step-by-step processes for setting up the platform event, accessing the event from a Talend Job, and retrieving, parsing, and loading the data into a database table.
SingleStore Integration with Talend
Talend offers a wide range of components to help companies manage data integration with various databases. This solution template shows you how to implement some of the components for integration with SingleStore, such as tDBOutput, tDBInput, tDBOutputBulkExec, tDBRow, tDBConnection, and tDBSP, to extract data from one app or database to SingleStore. It uses Salesforce as a source and migrates the Salesforce data to SingleStore.
Talend Integration with Avro Files
This solution template uses the Avro file format, basic compression concepts, partitioning, and scenarios to show you how to convert a CSV dataset from Azure Blob Storage to Avro format and perform various analytics.
